I was very tired and went to bed about 9.20. I went to sleep fairly quickly but woke about two hours later, needing a wee. Skye got up too and went downstairs. She does occasionally go for a drink of water downstairs but that’s usually the middle of the night so it was strange. I usually hear her claws clicking on the floor downstairs and hear her coming back almost immediately, but not then π€¦ββοΈI called but no sign of her so I had to put lights on and go and find her. She came back with me but I was awake. It took a little while to go to sleep. I woke again, about 2 hours later and madam went off on night manoeuvres again πShe refused to come back up despite calling and whistling. I had to put lights on and go down again. She was in the kitchen, playing with the cat π€·ββοΈ She took one look at me and went upstairs. This time I was really awake and I couldn’t go back to sleep. I was wound up and felt a headache forming. I switched my phone on and proofread the blog, knowing I was going to be up late in the morning. It took me ages to go back to sleep but I knew I’d gone off because I was rudely awakened at about 3.40 by Skye. She does this weird zoomie thing around the bed where she rubs herself along the bed base at great speed. She woke me because the whole bed was shaking π€¬ I let her out again but I was in a right state. She had woken me from a deep sleep. She refused to come back from this set of night manoeuvres as well so once again, I had to collect her and shoo her back upstairs. Needless to say, I didn’t wake until nearly 7. The morning had not got off to a great start.
I cheered up a bit with a cup of tea and some strawberry crisp in me. I put the green waste bags out and filled Skye’s licki mats but I was running late. That meant that the truck needed scraping and demisting πI got to Garth Hall around 9 and the ducks were desperate to get out. Once they were done I took the alpaca food to the barn and fed them and Rascal. I’d left my selfie stick in the truck and it was too far to go back for it but I was annoyed because I’d planned on doing some videos. I went to put the bucket in the jeep to collect later and I found the selfie stick. Then I remembered asking Emma to leave it there, knowing I would forget to bring it from the truck π I put the phone in it and set off. I filmed the ewes by the bale that was already half gone! I was on the hunt for any ewes with the green spot on their backs, denoting that they were carrying twins. In particular, I needed to find Sienna. I thought I’d noticed a twin mark on her yesterday and I wanted to double check. I couldn’t find her anywhere on my way. I saw the black ewe having a single and then at the bottom of the slope, I saw another black ewe, with a green spot, in a group of ewes with another ewe having twins. I got photos of them then crossed the brook to go to the LST. Munchie was just there, giving me one of her looks. “Hello you!” I was just about to press the button to get a photo of her when she did a 180 and pointed her arse at the phone. That was her way of showing her annoyance at being pregnant again π€£ She isn’t a fan of the responsibilities of motherhood.
I got all the buckets ready and went to feed the boys. Popcorn spat at me at point blank range again, all because I had the audacity to feed him π€¬ I was fuming and called him some names. I went off to the girls then and carefully put the phone and selfie stick out of reach to put food in the troughs. I got Ffion her food and little Texas Hold’em came to see me again. I have some lovely photos of him as he accompanied me to the far field. He allowed me to stand right next to him while he ate. That turned out to be a fortuitous move on his part because Livia came to steal his food. I spent about 5 minutes fending her off. She’s very persistent π She eventually buggered off and I stayed for a while to make sure he had eaten most of it. The rams were by the bottom trough today. I noticed them when I was watching Liv. That made it easier for me and I fed them there. Then it wss time to walk back up. I put the selfie stick back in the jeep, it seemed it was a good place to leave it. I fed the Peckys and collected eggs. I left and headed to Aldi.
There were cars parked in the two big spaces outside the main car park. Cars that would have fitted perfectly well in the spaces inside the car park, unlike the pick up truck which is longer and wider. The wider spaces in the curve all had cars so I tried the other side. There was one end one, next to a kerb, which allows a bit of room. The small car in the next space was parked badly, its one front tyre left at an angle, encroaching on the white line. I reversed in. I hoped Josh got that truck he had seen for me because it had reverse cameras! I walked to Pets at Home and grabbed a new licki mat for Skye then went to Aldi with my big list. They didn’t have any Tunnocks Caramel wafers either π²Tesco had them listed as unavailable and now they don’t even register on the website now. Good old Aldi though, they have their own version which is slightly different but I do like them. I got three packets. Their version of the strawberry crisp cereal is also cheaper (not shocked) so I got two of those and then Weetbix for little farmer who has a big appetite π I also got myself the hawaiian pizzas I like that don’t seem to have any garlic in them amongst other shopping. I then struggled to the truck with 3 heavy shopping bags. I never take the trolley to the truck. It seems like the waste of a trip π I rang Josh about the truck but had to ring when I was back home because my signal was apparently rubbish there.
I phoned him, played with Skye, made a cup of tea and started dinner. Once we’d finished on the phone and I was doing the parsley sauce, I made several attempts at ringing the dentist. They sent me a text telling me my dental appointment was due. I’ve got it booked in for a week Monday so I wanted to know what was going on. They are very complacent and I’m not a fan of dentists anyway. I only stay because I’m there and its too difficult to change. The hygienist is good and the young dentist I see is lovely. All they want to do is sell products and it annoys me. There are adverts all over the practice for whitening, braces and cosmetic procedures. If they stuck to teeth there might not be such long waiting lists. Anyway the line was constantly busy. Once the parsley sauce was done, I had time for another cup of tea. I washed all the little glass jelly dishes and made more jelly. I had time to put most of the shopping away before dinner was ready. I was exhausted π
After dinner, I walked Skye and heard back from Josh. The truck had been sold but they were getting another one soon so π€I rang the dentist again and finally got through. The receptionist must have been having a bad day became she couldn’t have sounded less enthusiastic if she tried and was very dismissive. “Its automatic.” I needed a sit down at that point, the morning had been manic. I watched last night’s Traitors and played tug of war with Skye until she got too tired and fell asleep. That’s what night manoeuvres will do to you – wear you out! I went to Garth Hall at 2.45 to miss the worst of the traffic. It’s always worse, and earlier on a Friday. It was too early to close so I wrote this blog in the truck, parked up at Garth Hall. Just when I was ready to go and close, it got dark and started to rain. I waited it out for a bit. The sky got brighter but there were a few hailstones π€¦ββοΈ before it stopped. I sorted the Peckys first and was amazed that there were four more eggs after picking up 7 in the morning π² Rascal insisted that I accompany him to the barn and feed him immediately! I found the ducks in the wellfield and I insisted it was time for them to go to bed. They weren’t overly keen until they saw the food. I was finished and went home tired. I felt the effects of Skye’s night manoeuvres and a manic morning π΄
