Ear tags

I put another wash out on the line, while there’s still a chance of it drying. I then went to Garth Hall and let the ducks out. I fed the Peckys and topped their water up. I collected two eggs and warned them to stay put! No one was listening, they were busy eating. After feeding Rascal, I went off to feed the alpacas.

It’s lovely seeing sheep at Garth Hall. The all sit on the track though 😂so I have to drive around them. I had a bag of alpaca mix and some hay. I loaded my buckets first then tipped the little bit of alpaca mix left it to go on the top. I tipped the new bag out and did that. I fed the boys then put Ffion’s portion into a bucket outside the podfield. I flung the bag of hay over then filled the trough. I took Ffion hers. She always jumps and skips excitedly for food. She’s such a darling 🥰I gave them hay and then drove to the main field.

I parked up and climbed the fence. Livia came to meet me. I was so busy trying to stroke her neck that I took too long. The alpacas surrounded me. Rookie error. There were the kicky ends of the girls pointing my way. It took a while to get out safely. I fed them and counted them before getting started on a poo bag. I picked half a bag because  I had to be home in time to have Riley at 1pm. When I got to Barry, Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson happily clucked over to see me 🤦‍♀️

Back at home I had an important job to do. Starsky and Hutch need to be moved on now as there are too many of their offspring at Garth Hall. The problem is that they both have ear tags missing 🤦‍♀️ I researched yesterday and the government information was soooooo complicated. It fried my mind. I didn’t understand. I know a tag company so I decided to ring them. I’ve never done replacement tags on a bought in animal and my father ordered his tags from Arthur John’s. I needed the numbers though. I didn’t fancy wrestling the boys on my own so I had the bright idea of checking the movement paperwork 💡 My father would have had that and I couldn’t find it. Bugger 🤦‍♀️ I made a second cuppa and bingo 💡 I had a brilliant idea. All the paper copies have to be inputted online. It took a while but I found what I needed. I rang Shearwell and opened an account and ordered the tags. She was sooooo helpful on the phone. I could have ordered red replacement tags if I didn’t know the numbers but as I knew them, they will send me the correct numbers. I was pleased with myself 😇

The afternoon was spent with Riley and at clsie three wet hens came to meet me 🤦‍♀️I’m working my way through the cast of the Great Escape and this new copper hen is James Garner 🙄
