Technical Genius

I woke up about 3.30ish and only dozed after that. The pain killers and worn off. My throat hurt and I was cold. I dragged myself up early and looked up throat pain on the internet. It still wasn’t working so I popped my mobile data on but I felt it was worth it. The advice suggested ibuprofen so I would need to try and eat something. Not easy to eat being in such pain. I managed 2 jaffa cakes. I took the ibuprofen and made a cup of tea. I got ready for Tregurnog and took the tea with me. It was too painful. I only managed half a cup. I must be ill!!! Queuing in traffic I had a throat sweet. That was more helpful. I fed the cat and the chickens then took Skye for a walk to check the rams. All good. I was grateful for heated seats. Still freezing.

Once I got in I took my temperature. Normal. I would take plenty of layers with me today, if I didn’t have to call it off over the rain. I checked the forecast. It wasn’t raining right now. Funny that because it was. I wore my waterproof trousers and wellies. I had a large selection of coats in the car. I put the telly on while I was making Elsie’s bottle. It wouldn’t work in the kitchen because the bloody internet wasnt working. I wasnt well enough for faffing but I did try. The 4 BT Openreach vans in the street didn’t instill me with confidence but I wasnt up to dealing with it. I got to Garth Hall and waited. I chose the thin waterproof coat. It was still raining but I wasn’t as cold anymore. Not with gloves on. (Thank you again for last year’s Christmas presents Sar!) A car went passed I thought it was them. I looked for a phone number but I only had the Fire Service number rather than a mobile. A few minutes later my ohone rang. It was them.

They had booked for 5 but unfortunately one of the field party wasn’t well so I had 4 members of the first service on a well-being morning. You can’t really beat a walk around Garth Hall to do you good. Fresh air, beautiful scenery. Excellent for mental health. Well I suppose there is one thing better than that – walking around enjoying all that with an alpaca. We had a lovely morning and the rain held off until the end. I was shattered. I popped the eggs over to Sar’s and then went home. I just made it. I put some pasta on for my father. I was in too much pain to eat. Proof I was ill if ever it was needed. I did his dinner then went for the click and collect. There were no throat sweets available in Tesco so I got some from Boots and then called into the vets to pick something up fir the sheep. I put that shopping and went to bed. I slept for hours. I was still cold afterwards but I felt a bit better. I got dressed and went down.

I turned the heating up and had another look at the internet now I felt a bit better. And technical genius that I am, I got it working. I had to reset Sky and the mini box but that was easy for me, as a technical genius 😁. Then for some food. I did jacket potato with beans and cheese, the ultimate comfort food. I had cold milk too. I hadn’t drunk enough. Then, the phone rang about tomorrow’s walk. I think I’ll be able to do it. Jordan will do Tregurnog for me. I even managed a quick walk with Skye.

I managed a cup of tea with loads of honey followed by a few sips of Cassis. Kill or cure. And it tastes nice.
