Show prep

I was awake at 4.40am, thinking about all the prep we needed to do for the show. I even had Josh up by about 6.30! We weren’t quite ready in time to make it to Tregurnog before my B12 appointment so we went straight after that. There was still a fair bit of water left which was good news. We dropped Skye off and went to see my granddog Ally. After that it was up to Garth Hall to move the two loads down to the spare field. Trouble was, Western Power and tree cutters were up on our lay-by. They did move for us and to be fair, we’ve had some wood chippings from them.

We put dinner on and I went for the food shop from Tesco. Just as we sat down to eat we had a phonecall, they were ready for their walk. They were booked on for a walk at 4. We couldn’t do any earlier, it was just too hot. We had an ewe to check as well as the trailer to clean out.

We had a lovely walk in the heat and then we were back to work. I took a load of water down. Phone rang. “Bat Out of Hell” “You’ve got the truck keys” I was telling him he needed to walk down “Can’t come. Rob is here!” I did all the water and they were still talking when I got there. Although we had loads of work, the talking continued…

Eventually we were ready to go. I went down in the mule with more water ready for the morning, Josh was following me. After about 40 minutes, I rang him, in a foul mood. He had decided the trailer needed jet washing, even though we had washed it. What frustrates me is that he doesn’t tell me when he changes the plan.

We were headed for Tregurnog but I was so hungry. We stopped off in Scrumps for chips. I had a short burst of energy after that. Josh did water and we both filled bags with hay. We loaded them and the fleeces into the boot of the truck. A message from Chloe: “What shall I wear?” Ended up with a phone call to her and a detour to Tesco for a multipack of Red Bull. Back home and we had to load everything else into the truck or my car. I got to bed about 10.30. The alarm was set for 4am. I didn’t sleep a wink. At 2.30am I admitted defeat and had a soak in the bath instead.
