My ribs were really bad last night, after the fall I assume. So painful I ended up having co-codamol. There was still some discomfort in the night but the tablets certainly knocked me out. I got up carefully, expecting pain as the drugs would have worn off. Nothing, no pain at all. A surprise, but great news as I had plenty to do (as always 😂) Then I ended up spending ages looking up glasses online. I didn’t even buy any because it was all taking too long. I was late leaving and therefore very late getting to Garth Hall. And it was chucking it down 🤬
The ducks weren’t friends to me for being so late but at least Rascal was sensible enough to wait for me in the barn, out of the rain. The alpacas soon followed me in and tucked in enthusiastically. I went back out in the rain and out through the wellfield gate. There was sooooo much water in the tractor ruts. It’s sort of terraced out there so I started joining them up so the water flowed down towards the drain Neil had put in the wellfield. I looked at my work as though I had all the time in the world 😂 I set off to the alpacas again.
No sheep in the podfield so I was delighted with that 😁I emptied water out of the boys buckets on my way down. I filled the food bucket and fed them. I took that back and got the big buckets full. The ground is water logged everywhere! But worse than that is the mud. There’s a fairly narrow route in between the boys field and the podfield. With the tractor ruts taking up a lot of f room, the sheep are choosing to walk past the boys feeding area. It was slick with mud. The other side of the ruts is less used so I took my buckets that way. I fed the girls reasonably easily, apart from the amount of mud in there too. I’ll have to move the troughs as soon as I get a chance. There was no sign of the rams so I got their food and walked up the field. I found them up at the top trough. I also saw somethings else, which made me bloody fuming. I even got my phone out in the rain to take a photo. Beyonce and the ewe from yesterday were in the far field. And they had been joined by an ewe lamb 🤬 Neil swore they weren’t in there yesterday. Maybe they weren’t but they bloody were now! I shut them in. He’ll have to do something with them tomorrow.
I took the buckets back to the LST and got a phonecall. “I know it’s short notice but do you want to see Morse in the New Theatre? I’ll pick you up at 1.” I messaged Neil to see if he was free to cover me. While I waited for a reply, I ended up draining another lot of puddles near the bridge and watched the water drain into the brook. I spent too long admiring my water feature again and forced myself to go off to feed the Peckys. I got them sorted and collected the eggs. I drove home in case I was going to be rushing to get ready. I still hadn’t heard back from Neil. In fact he hadn’t read the message so I was out of time. I spent the afternoon sorting the filing cabinet out instead of going to the theatre 😁
