Riley and the apples

Riley and Jordan opened up at Garth Hall for me because my floor was being started. However, he had been held up on a previous job so this postponed the start. Riley liked spending time up there so they got on with it anyway. I rang at 9.15 to say I would be there at 9.30. He wasn’t happy at the point so she didn’t think they would be there when I arrived. Her car was there so they were there but I couldn’t see them. I rang again. “He’s driving the jeep mam!” 😂 He loves “driving”!

They were heading towards me when I’d parked up but Riley went to Cai and tried opening the doors. We’ve found a door he can’t open, which was a positive. I let the Peckys out and they ran to Cai which got him interested. I noticed that the bucket of the windfall apples were ‘on the turn’ so I threw a few out. Riley seemed interested. “He wants to throw one Mam.” I passed him one and he immediately tried to bite it. We were both horrified. Jordan was so shocked she shouted louder than she meant to and he cried, or, he really wanted an apple 😂 They left, I put the eggs in the truck and went off in the jeep

Down at the LST, I parked by the walking gate. I loaded the podfield bucket and realised I’d forgotten to bring the bloody ewe nuts down 🤦‍♀️I put extra alpaca mix for today and fed them. Then I went back and dragged that bloody woolbag full of hay that Jordan loaded for me. It was heavy for me just to drag! I put a load into the pod and dragged the flaming thing back. I had a nightmare getting it back in the jeep and I’d emptied a lot out! My excuse is that it’s big and saggy. I’m sticking to that reason for my difficulties! I filled the other bucket and fed the boys. I drive to the girls field and fed them. Then, I drive to the top of the boys field to wrestle the woolbag of hay again. The problem now was that the bottom of it was soaking wet having been dragged through wet grass. The front of my hoodie was wet but at least there wasn’t any poo on me. I filled the feeder in there and still had hay left so I had to get it back over the fence. Thankfully, it was light enough this time.

I drove back and checked for eggs. Feral Beryl was on the nest. I turfed her off and found one brown egg. “It’s not yours anyway!” Her eggs are blue 😂 I put the ewe nuts in the jeep and rushed off, expecting the floor sander. Unfortunately I got a message from him to say he wasn’t going to be ready until the afternoon. I rang the surgery to see about booking for a coeliac test. If I’m honest, it was no help at all. I got different advice than last time 🤦‍♀️I also rang the probate solicitor to see if there was an update. No answer, so I left voicemail. I then tried to book for a service on my boiler. I did it online and have to wait for confirmation. All that took a while and I was conscious of walking Skye and getting the click and collect before her vet check (just to get happy pills for fireworks) I ended up having a microwave fish pie. I’ve really had a titful of the furniture being in the kitchen and banging my left knee every time I go to the sink. It will be worth it but I’m saying that through gritted teeth now.

After our walk, we went to Tesco. I didn’t think there was enough time to get Jordan’s shopping to her and get back by 2.30. Off we went to Vets for Pets. Skye loves it in there now. She gets fussed by everyone. She was sitting on the floor by one of the nurses and ended up rolling over onto her back for belly rubs. “She is such a tart isn’t she?” Said Hannah, one of the nurses that helped her get used to it in there 😂 It took ages to get all the flea and worm medication for her and the cats. They were all enrolled on yearly plans which should (hopefully) be cheaper. I was dying for a wee when we left. I got to Jordan’s, she grabbed her things and the floor bloke rang. He was at the house. As it was, he had parked in the drive. Never a good start that 😂 He came in, reassessed the floor and said he didn’t need to sand the loose floor tiles. He’s happy to start tomorrow. He was apologetic about the other job over running. He brought his equipment in and offered to start at 7.30 tomorrow. That was too early because I’ve got to go to the farm first. We settled on 8am and he left.

I got all the shopping in and reversed into the drive. Then, I had a wee. I made my tea and Neil messaged to say I needed to go to Tregurnog rather than him. Long walk for Skye then… and she was currently fast asleep 😬 When I’d finished my cup of tea, we went. She enjoyed stalking the sheep and barking at them. Coming back she was shattered. She likes to poke her head out of the window but it was drooping down. She didn’t last long before coming in and curling up on the back seat.

There was a gorgeous sunset suggesting another fine day tomorrow. And hopefully my floor will be started and I’m having blinds fitted too. Big day!
