Alpaca handling system research day one

I was up earlier than usual because I had Riley. His Nanny is on holiday. I got to the truck, which is parked on my drive and someone pulled up in a car and blocked me in. I beeped to let them know I was trying to leave. Did they bother to apologise or move? No, just carried on. The passenger then rolled her eyes at me as she left the car. I know I wasn’t in the best mood, having got up early but that pissed me off. As I finally turned out onto the main road she was there. Now it wasn’t raining, they could have stopped a bit further back, not on the dropped kerb of a driveway. I opened the window and then opened my big gob. “You need to watch your attitude!” The car that had drop3p3d the passenger off, stopped in front of me on the main road. I went round it. I was bloody angry and its affected my mood all day 🤬

I got to Garth Hall and saw a little bird in the chickens’ run. I opened the back up slightly then swiftly sorted the ducks and Rascal. Lastly I got the food and went to put it in the run. The little bird had managed to get out. I shut the end up and let the Peckys out. I drove through the lanes to Beddau. Not the best time to be on Beddau Square with all the school traffic 🤦‍♀️ I had a lovely time with Riley although he didn’t want to play this morning, he wanted to watch telly. Kifs telly hasnot improved since the days I watched PlayAway. In fact I think its got worse since Josh and Jordan watched Teletubbies. My brain feels like porridge now 😂 Riley decided he was hungry so pointed in the kitchen. I got him a rice cake as per Jordan’s instructions. He immediately signed “more” to me. That’s his favourite sign 😂 He didn’t lick his fingers when he’d finished it, he liked his entire hands!

While he was watching mind numbingly annoying, happy sounding presenters, I posted on alpaca chat. I asked for advice on an alpaca chute. I spent a fair bit of time on the phone, messaging a lovely, helpful lady who sent me videos and photos.  I got to Garth Hall once Jordan was home. There were some idiot drivers through the lanes. My mood was returning. I got all my waterproofs on because of the ominous clouds. The ducks were outside laughing at the jailed Peckys. Well it looked as if they were 😂 I put another bag of hay in the jeep and then drove to Cai for alpaca mix and Camelibra. The three Great Escapers appeared as if by magic at the noise of Cai opening 🤦‍♀️ I loaded the jeep fairly easily considering their ‘help’.

I filled the big feed bins then my buckets. I fed in the podfield first and checked the pod. They still had hay. I went to feed the boys next and the clouds emptied. When it slowed slightly, I rushed out and under the shelter to feed the boys. I drove over to the mainfield but again had to wait in the jeep for it to stop. I fed them and counted them all. After a check on the boys hay, I saw that they still had some so I drove back. I made dinner but was shattered. There are so many speeding drivers at the moment it scares Skye when I walk her. Coming around by Lanelay Hall they are soo fast and most are straddling the white line. 🤬 I was shattered when we got back and needed a sit down. I ended up napping 😴 I was that tired I feared it was a migraine coming on so I succumbed to the nap. I felt marginally better after it.

I went back to close at 6. The ducks were outside Barry making a hell of a noise. There was nothing untoward happening so I’m convinced they were mocking the Peckys for being locked up. I went to the barn first. Rascal had been fed but there was no sign of Neil. Busy doing Neil things somewhere I assumed. The sky looked ominous again so I rushed through my jobs. The ducks demanded to be fed. They sounded like they were in a worse mood than me! I fed them first then the Peckys.

There were more idiot drivers on the way home through Smilog hurtling towards the truck (which is large) down the middle of the road. I wa salad to be home.
