Topsy turvy day

The weather forecast was for a rainy morning and a much dryer afternoon. I only woke once during the night for a wee. Unheard of 😯 So, after a restful sleep I decided to walk Skye first, go to Garth Hall to open up and feed the alpacas in the afternoon. Rascal was pleased to see me early. The ducks acted as if they had been jailed for years. No eggs though. One of the lambs up the Chestnuts was calling out. Nellie was answering 😂 I liberated the Peckys and went home for breakfast. No rain as yet, despite the forecast assuring me it was currently raining!

I persisted in staying home to clean up, as per my plan for the morning. There was one shower. Other than that, it was warm and sunny. So warm that I needed the fan on 🤦‍♀️ I got loads of cleaning done and also got in touch with a landscaper for a quote on my back garden. After dinner, I walked Skye and there was a heavy shower while we were out. I began to get the feeling that the weather forecast was topsy turvy. The morning had been dry instead of wet 🙄 The trouble by then was that I had to wait in for a delivery that had remained undelivered over the last two days. It was due “sometime” between 1.30 and 3.30. It ended up arriving at about 2.15. I left immediately after for Garth Hall.

There was one egg in Barry, which I put straight in the car and then I left for the alpacas. I filled my buckets first and then put hay out in the podfield. I fed the boys and bypassed the podfield girls to do on my way back. I drove straight to the top of the boys field so I could put the builders back of hay out that I filled yesterday. I couldn’t swing the sodding bag high enough up the fence. It was also hot. The sweat was dripping off my forehead nearly as fast as the swear words were leaving my mouth. Nearly. As I got crosser, an inner strength began to arise brought to the surface by fear of failure and added work. I wrapped the bag up tight and “rolled” it up the fence. Once it teetered on the brink, I knew I had it. It went over, in a surprisingly controlled manner, considering my anger. It stayed shut. I dragged it to the pod and filled the hay feeder.

From there, I fed the girls and did some filming. The water was looking low though so I needed to fill two containers. There isn’t a proper spout on the IBC so filling takes ages. Luckily I had the jeep though. I loaded them in, reversed straight back and tipped them into the bath. That would last until tomorrow. I’d be all day filling it by water containers though 😬 I fed the podfield girls next. Kylie stayed away until Ffion had one of her four tablets left so I still had to climb over. I filmed Ffion eating and filmed the food thief in action. Plenty of content scheduled for the next week! Once that was done I headed to the barn to collect eggs. There were two behind the blue pallet. When I picked them up, one had a hole pecked in it. I left them on the side and got two eggs from the other nest. When I went to pick the first ones up, I realised they had both been pecked🤬 I was fuming!

I went to close about 8.15. The Peckys came running up the drive to meet me. Making me park miles from the gate so I didn’t run them over 🤦‍♀️ They were closely followed through the gate by the two ducks and Rascal ambled leisurely across the paddock, knowing he was last in the queue for food. The ducks have taken to following me and the Peckys at feeding after a Pecky-caused spillage a few days ago. I fed the Peckys and shut them in Barry. The ducks practically sprinted across the paddock and I fed them. Last but not least was Rascal.

They day ended in the usual order but had definitely started out topsy turvy.
