I had a lot of things to remember to take with me. Good job I slept well. The only problem was that I didn’t have a drink after about 2.30 yesterday. I got home about 6.20 and then had to walk Skye. If I drink after about 6pm, I’m weeing all night. So, as happens if I don’t drink, I awoke with a headache π I put the kettle on and put a load of washing in. Skye played out the back while I had breakfast accompanied by some paracetamol. I hung the washing out and then she had her walk. I filled the flask with boiling water and a drink bottle with cold water. I found 2 tubes from the tubing kit but not the correct syringe. I took a clean jug for mixing lamb powder and a scoop for measuring the quantity of powder. All that went in the truck along with some more empty egg boxes. I was relieved to have everything I needed.
Rascal met me but he was 4th on my list of priorities π¬ I let the ducks out and collected their eggs. I drove the truck to the barn and turned it around. I checked on Munchie, who was looking a lot happier. Her son was looking better too. The swelling in his head had gone down considerably. It should go down but I’m always concerned. He should be feeling better for that too. Then I unloaded all the things I’d packed into the truck and went to the lamb milk preparation table. Wonder was safe and sound curled up in his pen. As I was making up his bottle, Emma appeared at the gate. She checked on him and then went off to check around for new lambs. Wonder was pretty good on the teat but not an expert as yet so feeding him took a little while. He had about 190 of his 200ml. That will be much more than he will have had from Belle (his mother) He looked most plump when he’d finished, I washed and sterilised all the equipment and drove back to the airlock. Emma was by the ring feeder. I was heading her way so she waited while I fed the chickens, replenished their water and let them out. I drove down so we could feed the alpacas and rams as well as bringing up the 9 bags we had filled yesterday. We were ready early so I messaged Neil to see what we needed from Arthur John’s.
The rams must have heard the truck because they were on their way to meet us. We fed the podfield lot first then I drove to the bagging area. Emma fed the boys and then the girls while I fed the rams. I did my second wee since getting to Garth Hall, behind a bush on account of all the tea I had drunk π But despite that and te paracetamol, a niggling headache remained. We loaded the poo bags in and I drove back up. The bags were unloaded from the truck and stored in the railway carriage. I had the list of suggestions from Neil and a few of my own. I put them into my phone so I wouldn’t forget anything. I drove out and Emma locked the padlock. I had yet another wee because I knew I would need to go by the time we got to Cowbridge. Emma hadn’t been before. I think she enjoyed it. It is an Aladdin’s cave as I have said on many occasions. I managed to find a syringe (because Emma spotted it) to replace the one from the tubing kit so that was great news. Everything else I had to book out to be brought to the truck. I needed a wee and wished there weren’t so many 20mph stretches on the way back π€¦ββοΈ
I drove into the paddock, stopped outside Cai and dashed off for another wee. Emma started walking around to check for lambs. I caught up with her once I was done. There were no new lambs and no one lambing. We unloaded everything. It was then that I discovered I hadn’t put sugar beet on my list, despite needing someπ€¦ββοΈI can get that from Jenkins’s. Then I went back to make more milk for Wonder. Emma give him some milk but he didn’t want much, I tried and he was just full I think. He had about half of it. We were finished early. We deserved it after yesterday! I went to Jordan’s house to get my click and collect from her. My headache was coming back π It was bad so after dinner and Skye’s walk, I went to lie down to see if I felt better after it. Someone was banging the door about half hour later whch woke me up π€¬
Neil went to the farm in the afternoon. He sent a photo of a lamb in a lick bucket. I knew straight away that it was Wonder. The caption said “going to pump water”. It’s a slippery slope towards getting attached to Wonder. We will keep him if his standard if life is OK without sight. I’m trying not to get over attached yet. We’ll see how that goes…
