It was a bit on the chilly side when I woke up. I looked at the weather app. It had been a clear night and was going to be a lovely day. What a relief after yesterday! I got my shorts on, a t shirt and a hoodie. It was sunny when I opened the curtains. Nice! After Skye and I went for a walk I had breakfast and then got the crap car out. I needed it again. It needed diesel so I got that first and then went to Garth Hall. I undid the padlock and drove in. There were lots of lambs in there so I shut the gate after me. I fed Rascal and then let the Peckys out. There were 3 eggs. Mike arrived at that point and I let them in.
Mike is part of the extended family through Louis. He had brought his niece for a look at the. She can’t walk too far so I’d offered to take her around in the Duster. While we waited for Jordan and Riley, she had a go on the swing. Mike had brought his new camera and immediately began taking photos. The Peckys were his first subjects. Jordan and Riley came then. She put little man in his carrier. Her and Mike walked down whilst I took the young lady on a chauffeur driven around the farm and then down the slope (in 4wd) Jordan, Mike and Riley got there quickly and they all chatted while I got the food. Jordan introduced them to the boys. Tex and Olaf were out of the pen with Ghost 🤦♀️ I didn’t put any food out there and that made Tex go in the pen. At least he was away from Ghost. Olaf stayed outside but he left Ghost alone so he could have his extra rations.
Next we got back in the car. Mike opened and closed the gate after us while we drove in like princesses 😂 I went in and fed the girls then. There was a bit of argy bargy around the troughs but I got the food out. I kept some food back for hand feeding. My young visitor was a little nervous about feeding. I showed her, and held her hand but she went her own way. She pulled her cuff down over her hand and put the food on that. It kept slipping off. I told her to keep her hand cupped. Her answer was that it was. But of course the cuff just stayed put. Teenagers 🤦♀️ Mike took lots of photos of the alpacas for me. And plenty of Riley as well. When we were done there, I drove the car back up while the others did the fairy door hunt. I parked at the top and walked down to meet them. Lastly we drove to the barn and got the last 2 eggs. Successful visit done. It’s always a pleasure to take someone in a vehicle to the alpacas if the walk there and back would prove to be too much. All I need is prior warning so I’ve got a 4wd with me and a dry day. With that done we all left. It was only when I revr4sed into the drive back at the house, that I remembered I was supposed to go to Jordan’s to borrow clothes. My wardrobe consists of of work t shirts and hoodies as well as shorts and jeans. Nothing smart for going out. I wore my one nice dress to Caerphilly Castle and smart shorts and linen t shirt when I went to Mumbles. Hmmm.
I had to get on with dinner because I was having Riley for the afternoon. Neil sent several messages and spoke to my father on the phone. The weather looks good enough to make hay but that means everyone is making hay. Finding someone to bale for us was impossible. We had Ed lined up but he was already fully booked. We tried Rob, also too busy. My father got his phone out. He had used 2 other people in the past. He could only find the one number. Neil rang him but he was ill and unable to bale. There was the chance he had a number. It’s a waiting game. It meant Neil did not cut the grass. It looks likely that we have missed this window of good weather. We’ll have to try from Thursday onwards. Of course Thursday is market the first sheep sale of the year at Blackmill 🤦♀️ I was much later putting dinner on because of failing to find a baler. I did get it eaten in time. I even took Skye for her walk before Riley was dropped off. I took him in his pram up to the shops.
We went to Aldi, Asda Living, Poumdland, Matalan, Pets at Home and back to Asda (for a wee) He woke up in Pets at Home and was a little restless. I’d only forgotten his bottle 🤦♀️I gave him water in his sippy cup. It was warm so he was thirsty. He got a bit grouchy. I knew what was needed – ice cream. Itook one for the team and shared a McFlurry with him 😁 That cheered him right up. When I got him back home he was wet. I changed his nappy and had to take his vest off as well. It was really warm so he sat on my chair in just a nappy having a whale of a time. When Louis came in, followed by Jordan they laughed to see him naked. They put some clothes on him before taking him home.
It’s been a lovely, family orientated day 😊
