All about Tregurnog today

I had a good sleep for a change so I was up and raring to go. I went up to Garth Hall, checked the pets and went to feed the alpacas. At the livestock trailer one squirrel scurried out and there was another inside panicking while I dropped the ramp. It launched itself out from way above my head. Admittedly that isn’t particularly high but high enough for a squirrel. What are they made of that they dont get hurt from that height? I’ll tell you what these two are made of – stolen alpaca mix 🤬

I fed the alpacas without incident and then picked up poo in the girls’ field until the poover ran out of fuel. I finished at around 10.25 and then went to bag it all up. I went to the livestock trailer to get more bags and came face to face with one of those bloody squirrels again. We stared each other down. I was in the right because it’s my trailer and alpaca food that I’ve paid for. But that sodding squirrel has no respect for right or wrong. He showed no remorse and continued to stare me down. I won this round though because the tub is now empty. He’ll have to find food somewhere else!!! 🤬 That took me more or less an hour and then it was home to do dinner.

While I was at Garth Hall, Josh was at Tregurnog trying to sort the escaping sheep situation. First he has to find them then put them back where they should be and finally fix the fence. There is a bit of fencing required so this will be an ongoing project.

After dinner there was a phonecall to say the ewe and twins were on the lane. It was annoying because we were going at about 3.30 but Josh had to go there and then. I couldn’t help as I had a a dentist appointment. He rang me. “No sign of her anywhere.” I’m coming back. He picked me and Skye up, we got diesel and went to Garth Hall for drench, vectocert etc to take to Tregurnog. I got the bucket with those while Josh and Skye checked the alpacas. We met Neil at Tregurnog at 4.15 as planned.

I went off with Skye to start gathering the sheep while Josh and Neil set the run up. When Skye barks the sheep run away so ts quite effective. We make a noise that makes her bark. Then she barks and barks and barks and doesn’t bloody stop 😂

When they were in I had to take Jordan’s role of sending them up the run. She is much better at it than me but we managed. Every time i had to send a group up the run i hesrd “Come on Helen” Shouting this frightened them from walking up let alone annoyed me! I was well away from Josh though so I didn’t get shouted at. Swings and roundabouts. All the sheep had to be drenched apart from the ones going to the abbatoir tomorrow. We sent the majority into the yard and the rest on the other side of the run. We needed to look at these and decide which 10 would be going. The ones in the yard were sent out and we chose the 10. The rest were let out until next time. We packed up then and came home. It will be an early start tomorrow.
