I slept late. Really late. I woke refreshed and then had to rush around in a vain attempt to catch up. Jordan rang me to say Riley was saying “Bampa” She had to explain he was gone. Riley repeated “gone” and then shouted “Raaaar!” Which he does to wake someone up. It was bittersweet. He wouldn’t remember his Bampa but he’s seen photos and been told about him. I can just imagine Riley shouting “Raaaar!” at him to disturb him. It would have been funny π₯Ή
Anyway, I got to the farm in reasonable time considering and got started on my jobs. Rascal came to help me with the ducks and alpaca food π to hurry me along a bit. From the barn I went to the wellfield gate and joined a few big puddles up so the water flowed towards one of Neil’s drains. Down by the LST, there weren’t any ewes bothering me but they lurked by the lick bucket so I had to take the usual two trips. After feeding the boys, I went back with the heavier buckets and decided to cross the tractor ruts there as the going was actually slightly better upslope of the ruts.
I fed Ffion first, then the girls. I did the rams and then put out the ewe rolls. Livia and Eden followed me around much more than they ate. I told them both to settle down at a trough to eat π€¦ I let Ffion out and put the buckets back in the LST. It was time to go to Jenkins’s for ewe rolls. I only had a few left and the girl alpacas need them as there’s so little grass. I parked up outside and asked for 2 bags. “Sorry, there’s no ewe rolls left. We’re having a delivery on Monday!” Bugger. I didn’t have enough to last until Monday π¬They couldn’t give me what they didn’t have so I said I’d be back on Monday. I drove back and had a think. They would have to have some lamb creep.
I did dinner and took Skye on a nice 45 minute walk. That was a shock to her system but she slept long enough for me to watch Episode 5 of Bridgerton π Then it was time for me to go back to Garth Hall before the Friday rush. I wrote a bit of blog and was in Cai sorting when Neil turned up with a trailer, earlier than usual. He moved the last 4 bags of alpaca mix and put the 5th in the trailer. I put some lamb creep in a bucket and that went in the trailer too. We unloaded in the LST and then went to pick up Jordan’s bags of poo. Neil drove into the field to collect them and I manned the gate. I got an email from a woman saing “can you reply if you get this?” I replied. It’s usually people havng trouble booking via the website. He took the tractor back up and I was on gate duty again. He got a bale and put it out for the ewes. I was much quicker unwrapping it today, or so I thought but actually, they didn’t all run for hay. They came but not as fast. In fact Munchie and Blossom lurked by the paddock gate, trying to get in and didn’t even bother with hay π²
Neil went off then to do something with wood. He said he would do the ducks later so I fed the Peckys and picked up a couple more eggs. It was nice to be finished reasonably early for a change. The email woman replied too. She said her friend has cancer and she needs me to organise a Tesco gift voucher for her. She’ll pay me back π€¨ Not likely love. You’re not scamming me! π€¬
Time for the last episode of Bridgerton π
