I wanted a nice early start so that I could do everything at Garth Hall and come back in time to collect Skye for the dogfield. So, of course I was a bit late. I got a wash on the line but the promised sun wasn’t showing itself yet 🤦♀️ I was delighted that Rascal was by the duck shed to meet me. The two dirty ducks hurled themselves at the door and burst out when I opened the door. I got the alpacas food and they were waiting for me in the barn. I fed them and that it was Rascals turn. I left the wellfield at 9.03. I needed to get a move on!
Luckily I had filled the buckets yesterday. There was only one ewe and she had her head buried in the lick bucket. I took a chance and took the 3 buckets in one go. I left the 2 big ones by the podfield corner and fed the boys. Then the hard slog across to the main field. Neil had ridden the quad across the last remaining bit of ‘almost grass’ so he could get across. It made it worse for me to walk on, if that was possible! 😂 Not blaming him, there isn’t anywhere left any more!
I made it across and the rams weren’t down the bottom so that added a bit of time. I fed the girls and Ffion. The mud there is drying a little bit at least. I walked up and fed the rams. Maybe they preferred it there where it wasn’t so muddy too. I fed them all, took the buckets back and walked up as fast as I could. My final job was the Peckys. I opened the inner door so they would go in there. The obedient ones did but not the ones that escaped yesterday. One of the copper ones dragged me into a game of chase again 🤦♀️ I was back in time for Skye and we went off for the dogfield. By the Matalan roundabout, I released I was in the next lane to Emma. She hadn’t seen me so it’s natural to beep to draw attention isn’t it? Not with Skye though. She bounced about the back of the truck. She’s triggered by car horns. My bad 🙄 Anyway, she did calm down and when she did, I opened the window so she could look out. She loves that.
Without Ally stealing her ball and never giving it back, Skye had a great time at the dogfield. She ran around, chasing her ball through mud, getting filthy but enjoying herself! She’s so pretty but not the brightest so sometimes she lost the ball because she ran the wrong way. Despite enjoyed sniffing, she failed to find it a few times. I found myself in the position of throwing the ball and then getting it myself on several occasions 😂 After about 20 minutes, she was panting and bringing the ball back a lot slower! We got home and she still went out to play. The sun was out and my washing dried before the weather turned cloudier again. I got the click and collect and dropped Jordan’s off. Neil messaged to say he could close which was nice.
There’s now a weather report saying there’s a new Beast from the East on its way. The weather is nuts at the moment but not as dubious the forecasts 🤨
